Learn From Life

Learn From Life

Learn From Life. The problem is we often only except what we want to learn form our experiences. We experience important lessons each and every day. Some are exciting and new. Some are painful and scary. But if you allow your experiences to teach you, each one will play an important roll in your life. Often we only capture the fun experiences. But the painful ones are just as important. Every day you will cross others that will make you angry, perhaps cause you frustration but don't push these lessons off to the side. Work your way through each experience and choose to find the value in each and every one. Life will make more sense if you allow each experience to teach you the value they have in them. The difficult times will be less difficult and the joys of life will become more abundant. The more you learn what life has to teach you the setbacks will become easier. Except the lessons that life has for you and be thankful for what you have. Often we get caught up in the material things instead of what really makes life great. To all a great day and don't forget to remind a friend or loved one how much you appreciate them in your life. Love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Small Wins

The Gunnison River in the Black Canyon. One of my favorite spots to visit anytime of the year.

As humans, we tend to set goals throughout our entire lives and dedicate most of our time trying to achieve them. That gives us purpose and motivation to strive forward. Yet, it can have detrimental consequences to our mental health, activating stress indicators that come as a byproduct of pushing ourselves too hard towards massive goals. Small wins are just as important as big wins and sometimes more important to keep us on track. We should make it an everyday practice to focus our attention towards the positive by counting each small win we make. Instead of focusing on overwhelming and complex goals, choose small, achievable daily actions. By celebrating these small, daily wins, you will be more confident and motivated to achieve the same satisfactory feeling the next day, then you will gain momentum leading to an almost effortless achievement of the ultimate goal. Concentrate on some small wins today. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Money Isn't Everything

Gunnison River. Black Canyon near Montrose Colorado.

The world we live in seems to have turned us into money making robots with ever-increasing desire to earn more only to spend more. Many have fallen victim to this vicious circle of making earning their top priority. What happened to keeping it real? Fun-seeking, experience-hunting, and just letting loose once in awhile? Now don't get me wrong, bills, rent and college debt won’t pay itself, but what you do with the rest of your paycheck, is what makes all the difference. Studies show that people who collect experiences instead of things, show much bigger and longer-lasting signs of contentedness. When you spend time and money doing things or going places with other people in your life, you get a chance to enjoy sharing your experiences with others. This way you enrich your life, and apart from learning new skills and discovering new places, you learn a lot about yourself and others, and get valuable life lessons no gadget in the world, no matter how advanced, can teach you. Growing older, the excitement of buying the latest smart phone, TV or a car will be long forgotten, but moments you shared on your trips or events with your friends and family will be vivid in your memory forever. After all we don't know what tomorrow will bring. Remember you can't take it with you so plan something new and different this weekend. Get out and enjoy a real life experience. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Be Thankful

Dominguez Canyon last weekend. Between Delta and Grand Junction CO.

Be thankful not only for this day but every day. Be thankful for what you have and understand it's value. Don't get confused with what you want. There is a big difference between what you want and what you need. Count your blessings often and more good fortune will come your way. The more you count the more you will receive. Giving thanks to the people around you is a great start. The more attention you give to the things you cherish, the more valuable they will become. Be thankful for the dark cloudy days and they will become brighter. Be thankful for the sunny days and they will be even more enjoyable. Be thankful for your opportunities and you will make the best of them. Be thankful more often and life will reward you. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way. I wish everyone a Happy and Safe Thanksgiving.

Stick To The Basics

Gunnison River in Dominguez Canyon on our hike last weekend, Western Colorado.

Stick To The Basics. Achievement is not easy nor will it come quickly every time. Most of the time it will take determination and doing it over and over again and again until your goal is reached. To acquire something worth while will take some time in deed. Winners focus on mastering the basics first rather than chasing every new gimmick that comes along. Often we ignore the basics and everything in between. Then we wonder why we are not where we want to be. You must stay on track and stay focused with a positive outlook and sticking to the basics. Next you must always remind your self three simple words. "Yes I Can". Yes I Can will travel far while sticking to the basics. Use these simple fundamentals and you will prevail. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Do More Today

One of 300 lake on the Grand Mesa. On one of our hikes a couple weeks ago.

Do more today and get even closer to your goals. You have made it this far now continue on. Instead of resting why not climb a little bit higher. You've spent the effort and have come a long ways so why not keep going? Keep going and stand tall. When you've already done enough, that's a great time to do more. Every accomplishment creates new opportunities. Instead of sitting idol and being complacent, enjoy taking the challenge a little bit further. What do you have to loose, that's right nothing to loose. You're already near the top so why not stand on top? The worst time to stop is after you've made progress.  Keep riding the momentum and keep moving forward. Don't let success spoil your success. After you've achieved the goal, set your sights on an even higher goal. Keep working and keep the momentum going. Do more today and you will be glad you did. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Be Positive About The Future

Mesa Lake Colorado a couple weekends ago.

Be Positive about the future. If you think positive about your future that's probably how it will turn out. If you think gloomy thoughts then more than likely that's the way it will turn out.The future has not happened yet so you can decide how it ends up.There will always be challenges but with those challenges lie possibilities. Turn those possibilities in to positives and your on your way to a bright future. If you expect the best and work forward in a positive way then the best possibilities will come your way. The future is being born right now with your thoughts and actions. So choose to make your actions and thoughts count. Doors are closed so others can be opened. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way. Be a positive light in someone else's eyes, remind a friend how much you appreciate them being in your life. Have a great Wednesday everyone.

Building Momentum

Panorama near Island Lakes on the Grand Mesa, Western Colorado last weekend.

Never stop building momentum. You've done a great deal. Now challenge yourself to do more. Here's the opportunity to add to what you've already done.  The more you build, the more you will have. The longer it takes to build the greater value it will have. Things are never easy, but they are well worth working for. Great satisfaction comes with growing and building. Remember if you do nothing, you gain nothing. Do what needs to be done to achieve your goals. At times it might not be easy to stay positive and focused, but trust me it's well worth it. The value of any goal is built by the time and effort that you put into it. Keep going, keep building and never give up. The fact that it's not easy means that you're doing something worth while. Don't forget to never stop building, love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Be Stronger

Our hike to Blue Lakes in the San Juan Mountains CO. a couple weeks ago. (11,750 FT)

Be stronger is not only possible but it's a must. Life will always have it's challenges, so learn to take them head on and be stronger than them. We all have the ability to be stronger if we simply make the choice to do so. Except each situation as it is and get busy working through them. Turn each problem into a solution and work towards the next task that lies ahead. With every problem there is an opportunity for growth. Life without opportunity or growth would be boring and dull. Don't try to be free of problems because that will never happen. Don't waste your time searching for a worry free life because that's not reality. Use your time to be stronger and rise above the problems. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

On The Right Track

We passed by this pond on our hike last weekend to Blue Lakes. Picture- Reflection of Mt. Sneffles, (14,157 ft.) San Juan Mountain Range, Colorado.

Being “on the right track” can mean completely different things for different people. But regardless of what characteristics you want your life to have, the same basic questions apply to everyone. Ask yourself "Am I enjoying myself?" Enjoying life isn’t the only priority we should have. For example, enjoying life a little too much can lead to reckless and irresponsible behaviors. However, a much more common problem people have today is not making time for enjoyment. If you’re not careful, jobs, bills, and various obligations can end up occupying most of your time. In this case, we begin to break down like a car that has needed an oil change for too long. If you’re consistently busy, you may want to consider consciously planning out time for enjoyable activities. If we don’t do this, our minds often compensate with less healthy enjoyable activities, like eating junk food or gossiping just to blow off steam. Next ask yourself "Am I procrastinating my life away?" This is perhaps the easiest and least noticeable way to go off the right track, which makes it especially dangerous. It’s very easy to let ourselves believe in the “one day” lie: one day I’ll start exercising;  one day I’ll start my own business. But if you don’t mean today, these things will probably never happen. Instead, you can begin taking small actions each day to bring about the changes you want. As long as you accomplish a small task, you’ll be moving toward a goal. Work on these two things and you will be on the right track. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Our hike last weekend to Dollar Lake, Kebler Pass Colorado.

Self satisfaction is very important in order to be happy. Self satisfaction concerns you and only you. It doesn't reflect anyone else's thoughts or opinions. Being satisfied with who and where you are is the key to happiness. This doesn't mean that you have to stop dreaming and working for more. It simply means that you accept what is and continue on from there. Don't be bothered with what others think or say. Don't let negativity by others slow your momentum. You should be enthusiastic in what you do and you should follow your instincts. If it's something you truly want then it's definitely worth the effort to obtain. Put your heart and sole into your efforts and you will obtain your goals. Even if you fall short you should be satisfied with you efforts. Having self satisfaction will lift your life up higher than you ever imagined. Keep self satisfaction high on your list of priorities and you will see many great things. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Dealing With Stress

A pond on our hike to Nesho Mine last weekend. Above Ouray Colorado.

Dealing with stress is no easy task yet we have to encounter this task every day.  How you feel and the way you deal with a situation is a choice. I’m reminded of a counselor who would often state “no one can drive your car unless you give them the keys.” You cannot control others’ actions, but you can be responsible for your reactions. The prayer states “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things that I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” When applied, this can be a great stress reliever. Look at the situation and ask yourself “is this something I can change?” If so, start exploring positive ways to change the situation. Our attitude has a profound effect on how we deal with situations. Negative attitudes affect our physical, spiritual, and mental well being. When in a particularly stressful situation, try exchanging attitude for gratitude. When you are running late for a meeting because you are stuck in traffic, change your attitude. Instead of being frustrated about the traffic, find some gratitude. Look around and think of all the things you can be thankful for. Sometimes you can find gratitude in the smallest things. You can be thankful for life, health, strength, friends, family, nature, etc. Focusing on gratitude can definitely change your attitude.  Dealing with stress is not easy but it is possible. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Love Yourself At Every Road Block

A beautiful sunset on our lake the other night.

Goals and dreams are what makes life exciting, motivating, purposeful and worthwhile. When the path is easy and straightforward, it can be the most fulfilling feeling but inevitably obstacles and roadblocks come around the corner; not to tell us our dream is unreachable and unattainable, but to allow us to learn, grow and become the person we need to be in order to get there.
For many of us, once we come across a hurdle, it can simply be what stops our dream in its tracks – the motivation subsides, our beliefs in achieving our goals breaks down and it can seem impossible and dejecting. In a society where we are judged for our looks and age alongside our abilities and competence, having our dreams placed in the hands of others’ opinions of us is a dangerous game and one that will quash the dreams of even the strong-minded of people. If you’re feeling beaten down or even that it’s too late for you to achieve your life-long ambition then try changing the game a bit. To truly achieve what we want in life we need to learn how to embrace ourselves, love ourselves and believe in ourselves. This is very important when it comes to happiness and continuing the path to our dreams and goals. Developing a mindset that keeps you on the path no matter what you are faced with, will prove to be the deciding factor in becoming successful in what you want to achieve in life. So stay positive and keep moving forward. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Positive Mindset

Long Lake near Crested Butte Colorado.

I'm often asked how can you be so happy all the time? Your life must be perfect? Well surprise no it's not perfect but I choose to make it perfect and not dwell or fret the small stuff. It’s easy to get caught up in the daily grind of life, especially in today’s busy world. With so much to worry about, from work and bills to family and social life, even those who seem to have it all together can wake up and feel like their lives are falling apart. When this happens, it’s extremely important that you hit the brakes, take a look at your life, and think about what you can change so that you’re actually living and not just going through the motions. Also make sure that your not living to work. We should work to live not live to work. Next don't get frazzled. Life is full of little annoyances that we can’t control. If we paid attention to every little thing that got in the way of us having a “good” day, we’d never be happy. You’re going to spill your coffee sometimes. You’re going to hit every red light on the way home from work some days.Once you recognize that Murphy’s Law is one of the only constants in life, you’ll realize things could be much worse, and you’ll be able to let the little things fall by the wayside. Lastly be sure to love yourself. If you don’t love yourself, no one else will. On that same token, you should never compare your life to anyone else’s. You have no idea what they’ve been through in their life, and they have no idea what you’ve gone through in yours. And don’t worry if other people have something negative to say about you. People will talk. But it’s those people who are unhappy enough with their own lives that they have to find the negatives in other people’s lives to make themselves feel better. Live your own life, and love every minute of it. Work on these few things and you'll be creating a positive mindset. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Piece By Piece

Columbine Lake on our hike Saturday. Elevation 13,094 Above Ouray CO. Yes it's a neon blue color.

Life is all about putting the pieces together. One by one, piece by piece a puzzle is solved. It takes more than one piece to finish a puzzle. It takes more than one piece to have fulfillment in life. Pieces come and go so never stop searching for more. If you think it takes just one piece you are sadly mistaken. Now don't misunderstand this theory. You will never find all of the pieces and this is good. Think of the let down if there were no more to seek. Finding most of the pieces should bring joy and a sense of accomplishment. Day in and day out pieces will be lost, forgotten and forever changed. That's OK, life is about change and searching for the unknown pieces should drive you forward and upward. Be happy with the pieces you have and be blessed with the pieces you will find. Never stop adding pieces and life will treat you well. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way. Keep searching piece by piece. I hope everyone had a great day compiling pieces and thanks again for visiting my thought today.

Redefine Yourself

Pigeon Point Lighthouse built in 1871. We visited this on our trip down the Pacific Coast Highway California.

Redefine Yourself
The ability to reinvent and redefine yourself is a bold and daring choice. It doesn’t just happen. You have to make a conscious, intentional choice and then follow through. Change can be a very scary thing. It takes courage a bit of faith to decide to shed your old self and don a new person. However, it is one of the most critical processes one must repeatedly endure in the pursuit of destiny. Change unlocks new levels of potential. So how do you know when it’s time for a system upgrade? There are signs along the way that alert you that it is time for an overhaul. The first sign is the feeling of being stuck. If you feel like you are in a rut, you’re bored with life or you need some newness and excitement, a self reinvention may be in order. Re-evaluate your life vision and your goals. Is that vision still valid and are your goals consistent with your vision and–are they achievable? If you are off course, it’s time for a change. If you are not moving forward and making progress, it’s time for a change. In life you’re either moving forward or you are moving backward. Time constantly moves forward and if you are standing still, you are actually losing ground. No matter your age or stage in life– there is always room for improvement. So make today the day that you choose to make some changes in your life. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Believe In Yourself

Sitting on top of the world last weekend on our hike up Elliot Mountain 12,340 Ft.

It can often be hard to believe in yourself, especially if you feel like you have nothing to offer or are unworthy of things. But you are worthy and you are capable. If you're having trouble seeing all the amazing things about you, there are simple things that you can do to start believing in yourself. Start with taking better care of yourself to build your confidence. Start a diet and or exercise program. Perhaps try going to bed a little earlier and waking up a littler earlier as well. You can also take stock of what you have accomplished and set goals. Set realistic goals will help you to believe in yourself and your ability to accomplish things. Make sure that you develop goals that are in line with your skills and that are attainable.Be prepared to go outside of your comfort zone now and then. Even though you are setting realistic goals, you might need to do things that you don’t normally do in order to accomplish your goals. After you set a goal, work hard until you achieve it. Don’t abandon a goal because it becomes too difficult. If a goal seems too difficult, try breaking it into a series of smaller goals and focus on one at a time. Reflect at the end of each day. Self-reflection is an important component of self-improvement. It helps you to take stock of what you are doing well and what you still need to work on. Take a few moments at the end of each day to reflect on your experiences. If you have a day where you don’t accomplish as much as you hoped you would, try to learn what you can from the situation in order to avoid repeating any mistakes you might have made. Start with the steps above and start believing in yourself today. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Self Determination

A beautiful Monarch Butterfly watching us fish yesterday. Notice the smaller butterfly and bee in the picture.

When things go wrong we often doubt ourselves, seek pity or blame others. Life will change and sometimes in a bad way, but you don't have to add your own negative energy to the situation. Take all that negative energy, anger and resentment and transform it into self determination. When something goes wrong, fix it or get away from it. Stop blaming and excusing, start building and achieving. You're capable and worthy of rising to the top, so use some self determination and start doing so. Be clear on what you intend to do and make the commitment to stay on track. Use some self determination to raise your performance and your status. Don't let the bumps in the road slow you down. When things go wrong that's your opportunity to make life better, to better yourself and others around you.  What do you have to loose after all? Set your world on fire with some self determination and you will soon be on top.  Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

It All Matters

Petrified wood that appeared on fire. Bear Creek Hiking Trail a couple weeks ago. Ouray Colorado.

It all matters more than you think. Live your life as if everything matters and you will be on your way to a bright future. Every up and every down has great meaning in your life and others around you. In every corner of your life, every moment of your time, every struggle in your life all consist of where you are now and where you're headed. Without one or the other we would be truly lost. So don't be so quick to push away the bad that occurs. Use each moment in time wisely and seek out each lesson. Real success comes from who you are, you are your own actions. Every actions is very important in shaping your life. Keep your actions alive by understanding that everything matters. The sooner you realize this the easier your going to find it to reach your goals. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way. After all, it all matters.

Set Some Limits

Navajo Lake Colorado last July 2015

We often hear advice like “live in the moment” and “the time is now.” These are wise words and being mindful of the present moment is an excellent way to live well. However, getting everything we want when we want it is not necessarily good for us. It can make us complacent and lazy. Instant gratification is tempting and, in this day and age, easily attainable. We have access to fast everything information, food, technology, entertainment. We don’t have to exert a lot of effort into fulfilling our desires and, in many cases, we can purchase goods and services in an instant that will gratify our every requirement. What we don’t consider are the lessons and benefits we miss out on when we don’t delay fulfillment. We experience personal growth when we work harder to achieve satisfaction. We also take for granted the value of aiming for long-term goals and drawing benefit from the process by which we reach contentment. we don’t have to deprive ourselves of the good things in life in order to achieve balance. It’s simply a matter of restraint and mindfulness—being conscious about the decisions we make and having boundaries. In a luxury and technology centered world it is easy to become detached from our core values and the important things in life. We start to give priority to superficial things: objects, material wealth, acquisition, and appearance. We discard the need to acknowledge the future and possible consequences for our actions. We don’t consider waste, damage to our health or the environment, or other possible adverse effects of our immediate actions. Our dissatisfaction with short-lived pleasure causes our needs to be magnified the next time we seek fulfillment. This can often lead to disastrous and largely unforeseen costs like addiction. There are many examples of this. Overindulging in food, alcohol or drugs, technology such as the internet, gaming and gambling, even seemingly harmless indulgences like shopping or body image through diet and fitness can become obsessive and have counterproductive results. That doesn’t mean we have to completely discard our opportunities to enjoy these things. We just need to have limits and we need to be aware of how we do things and how much or how often we indulge. That is the difference between living our life and wasting it. So start today by setting some limits. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Make A Better Life

This little girl was hanging out in a dandelion filed this past weekend.

To start making a better life you must first stop worrying that your life hasn’t worked out the way you expected it to be. Don’t spend time worrying about what you haven’t done yet and instead just enjoy life – things will come to you in good time. Next Spend less time working. Life at a young age can be very career-focused and we believe that, to be successful and happy in life, we should be working hard and clocking in those hours. Sometimes we spend too much time putting work first. You start to realize that precious moments with loved ones are much more important than sitting in the office and making money. Those special moments that you're missing out on are gone forever. Take more chances, we tend to become overly cautious in our decision-making. One reflection is not having lived a little more. Travel the world, pursue that dream job or do that bungee jump! Don’t feel afraid to chase exciting opportunities, pick a dream and fulfill it today. Invest more time exercising and being healthy The anti-exercise and bad eating habits we tend to adopt when we’re younger can carry on into the later years and it’s this time in life that these bad habits are harder to drop. It’s more difficult to get into shape once we’re a bit older so establishing a positive attitude to exercise and healthy eating will serve you well. Start today making a better life for you and the ones around you. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Bring Sunshine To Your Life

A busy chipmunk on our hike above Ouray Colorado this past weekend.

When you wake up, what kind of mood are you in? How strong are you on the inside? When you wake are you ready to bring sunshine to your life? Take a deep breath and awake to the beautiful promises the world has in store for you. Every moment, every hour, is meant to be cherished and to be fulfilling. Choose to bring sunshine to your life. Remember that life is more of a marathon than a sprint. You have the opportunity to start your race again every morning. This fresh start that is presented to you allows you to have the chance to get everything beautiful that you desire in life. Focus on what's within instead of what you're without. People chase dreams, money, and love. Rather than seek what joy already exists in their soul, they seek fulfillment and satisfaction from what is afar. Learn to be content and happy with everything you have, and watch your self-esteem and courage soar. Happiness is a state of mind- not what can be found in obtaining any particular possession. Start with these few things and bring sunshine to your life. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way. Have a wonderful weekend and thanks for visiting my thought today.

Just Let Go

A Great Blue Heron fishing next to me on Monday. Uncompagre River-Ridgway CO.

Just as important as the goals you are reaching toward, however, are the things you are intentionally letting go of. A big part of designing a good life is being able to let go of things that hold you back in life and things that are not important to you. Start with Letting go of bad habbits. Work on being kind and loving to yourself and others around you. Let go of perfection. Waiting to do something until the timing is perfect often means you’ll never do it at all. Let go of living the life that everyone else has planned for you. It’s time to design your life the way you want to live it remembering that our Lord is in control and has a plan for you. Let go of sitting on the sidelines. Life’s too short to sit there and watch it pass you by just because you don’t think you have the ‘perfect’ body, you’re ‘too old,’ you’re ‘too young,’ or you’re too whatever. Just let go today and start living. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Make Changes For An Better Life

Panorama at Arches National Park, Moab Utah.

Are you ready to improve yourself and your life today. Making changes in your life doesn’t have to be totally overwhelming. There are many little things you can do to change your life in big ways. It's never to late to start so try a few of these ideas and see how it goes. Write down one thing you are thankful for every day. Starting a gratitude journal is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. Carry yourself confidently. Stand with good posture and walk tall. De clutter your home. Get rid of the items you don’t use and donate clothes you don’t wear.Move your body. Exercise helps us feel our best. Try new healthy foods. You never know when you may discover a new favorite dish. As humans we get stuck in our same old routines and this can drag us down and make life boring. Spend time in nature. It’s refreshing and gives you opportunities to feel fresh and free. Figure out what your priorities are. Spend more time on your priorities and less time on the unimportant junk. Today is the day to start making changes and you will see how it inspires your life and others around you. When the day is over make sure you say a Prayer. Then rest your eyes while going to bed knowing that you made some changes for a better life. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Make A Decision

Canyon Lands National Park this past weekend, Moab Utah.

Make A Decision

One thing we all have in common is making choices every day, whether we like it or not. Decisions are a big part of our daily life and often we struggle with making the right one. That’s when doubt and distractions get in the way. And we end up regretting our choice, feeling bad about it, and constantly wondering if we could have made a wiser decision. To make a decision easier we should not over think the situation, even if it’s a simple one we encounter daily. We often waste time deciding what to wear, whether to call someone or not and what to eat for each meal. In cases like that, there’s no wrong option really. So just do it. Take action right away before your brain has the chance to think of different scenarios and confuse you. After the decision is made be sure to stay positive. No matter what you choose, you can always make the best of it. How we handle life is all about our attitude towards it and how we react to what happens to us. So be optimistic. Know that you’re doing your best and no decision can make you regret that. The worst decision you could make would be to not make one at all. So stop holding back and make it with confidence. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Time Is Limited

Green River overlook this past weekend at Canyonlands National Park, Moab Utah.

Our time is limited. We only have 24 hours in a day. And if we want to work on the things we believe in, but to also have time to rest, have fun and be with our loved ones, we’ll need to prioritize. Stop accepting every proposal you get, don’t start new projects every week, don’t set many goals at once and avoid working on more than one thing at a time. All this will improve your performance and help you exceed in life, as you’ll only be working on the things that actually matter. You’ll also be happier and will prevent burnout. Adding stuff is never the answer. To get back to your path in life, to see clearly where you’re going and to start having fun and be calm again, you’ll need to remove anything that’s not essential. Keep only what’s important to you. There’s no time for the rest. Don't forget that a simpler life is a happier life. Also don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Less Is What You Need

The top of Seven Falls, Colorado Springs, Colorado.

We live in a society that always tells us to get more. You may be doing this unconsciously, because you’ve always been living this way and that’s your environment. You’re buying more stuff, which you then need to take care of and fix. You make more friends, but that doesn’t mean you spend time with quality people who lift you up. You consume a lot of information daily, but most of it has nothing to do with your life and goals, and only brings you stress and worries. You add more tasks to your to-do list all the time, but most often you’re just keeping yourself busy, and still not getting the important things done. Such a life is complex. And this complexity makes us over think, doesn’t let us fall asleep fast, makes us anxious because we are in a rush all the time and try to stay up-to date. It’s time to stop doing that. Simpler is better. Less is what you need more of and it’s the power of eliminating the unnecessary that will let you find more meaning in your days and more happiness in your soul. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Positive Mistakes

The Botanical Gardens in Denver CO. last weekend.

Positive Mistakes will happen. In fact you can make most mistakes positive if you choose to do so. Mistakes in life will happen no matter what, so why not make the best of them and look at each mistake as an opportunity. With every mistake there is an opportunity to learn. Mistakes are a positive reminder that we don't know it all. With every mistake there is a way to move forward. There is a positive way around every pitfall. By excepting mistakes you are on you way to gaining knowledge you didn't have before. You can use this knowledge in a positive way and become more experience at handling mistakes. You will learn to let them go and get over them more quickly. Don't fear anything because of a possible mistake. Don't let mistakes get you down. Mistakes are a sign that you are putting forth effort. With effort and persistence great things will come your way. Great achievements require you to work your way through the mistakes and misunderstandings. Keep your chin up and keep those mistakes positive. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Don't Stop Yourself

A couple geese hanging out down by the river. Montrose Colorado

Don't stop yourself today or tomorrow. In the past you have stopped yourself more than you can ever imagine. We often make excuses why we can't do something. We stop ourselves before we even get started. Some times we  even place blame on others why we can't achieve a goal. This is again stopping yourself from doing what should and could be done. Stop holding yourself back and get busy with the task at hand. Having doubts have no value to you or others around you. No mountain is to high, no goal is unreachable. The only limitations that can stop you are the limitations you place on yourself. You have to let go of those thoughts and carry through with what you intended on doing. Stop holding yourself back, take action today. Don't stop yourself from rising to the top. Stay positive and stay focused, you can do it. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.
I hope everyone is having a great week so far.

Get Moving

Moab Utah a couple years ago. We will be returning next month for some hikes.

Get moving in deed. Today is the day to get up and move. Life is like riding a bike, to keep balance you must keep moving. Taking action will take you from here to there. Get moving, turning your dreams into reality. The only way to achieve a goal is to get moving. Be ready to adjust your actions based on the results you are getting. When you get moving there are no guarantees of success. However by not moving you are guaranteed a negative outcome. Don't make excuses why not to move. Make excuses why to move and get moving today. You can prepare and plan for weeks, but that's not going to get the job done. Put some commitment into this day and get moving. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

A Promise

A pond near Telluride Colorado last Saturday.

A promise is something we often make to someone else. We then work on keeping this promise over time. What we often forget is that the most important promise one can make is a promise to yourself. A promise to yourself is often the first promise broken. But if the same effort is taken either promise can be kept. If your going to make commitments to others you must first make and keep commitments to yourself. In order for the promise to have value you must first value yourself. It's not the least bit selfish to have a commitment to yourself. Without this you will have little value to others. Today think of a promise you can make to yourself and then work towards keeping it. Choose a promise for yourself and make a plan to follow through. Perhaps it will be an exercise or diet routine. Perhaps just being honest with yourself of who you are and where you want to be. Once you succeed you will have gained great value in life and will have no problems passing it along to others with commitment and dedication. No matter how far you have come there is always new ground to cover. Commit today to moving to higher ground. Today is the day to make yourself A promise. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way. I hope everyone had a promising day and thanks for visiting my thought today.

Stay Positive

This little one is working hard.

Staying Positive is easier than you think. Just because life is bringing you down doesn't mean that you have to choose to be down. Choose to stay positive and more positive things will come your way. No matter what your situation is doesn't mean that you have to see it as a burden, even the loss of a loved one. Though never easy we should be reminded that life is change and change is often good. In many cases the loss was necessary to ease the pain of the individual. Know this person is no longer in pain and is in good hands. Instead stay positive and keep pushing on. If you live in the state that you're stuck in a rut in deed you will be stuck. This is the easy way out but it's just as easy to find a way out of the rut and move forward. If your positive and confident you will in deed move forward. Choose to live with the thought that there's away around every obstacle and you will find a way around. The quality of your life positively reflects the attitude you choose to have. The person you choose to be, the attitude you choose to maintain and the expectations you choose to live will come from you. So not matter what happens or has happened choose to stay positive and you'll be on your way. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.

Amazing Life

An older picture of mine. Some curious creatures watching me fish.

Life is truly amazing. Wherever you are, whatever you're doing take a moment to realize how amazing it is. Don't be so anxious to find something new that you miss out on what you already have. If you're not happy where you are in life then make a change. Life is amazing if you choose to let it be. Be curious with everything and everyone that crosses your path. Be excited by what you see and what you learn. Pay attention to every part of your life and you will truly be amazed at what you see. Hold high expectations for what you seek and keep reaching for the stars. You will encounter many new things on your journey and experience things that you never imagined existed. Many new treasures are available so find as much as you can. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way. Amazing life in deed.

Reality Check

Every once in a while we all need A reality check. The world is the way it is and you are the way you are so what can be done about it? Are you going to dwell on the past? Wish you could go back in time? Or even stop today in it's moment. This is all a waste of time. The sooner we realize that time moves in one direction the better off we'll be. Time moves forward and only forward. Are you going to sit around and wait for someone else to solve your problems for you? If so you're going to fall further behind. Are you going to waste energy because you feel you have been treated unfairly by life? If so the negative outcomes will increase. It's your choice to make. You're in this state because you have chosen this road. So why not choose to be positive? Why not wake up to a reality check? Except the way things are and start doing something about it. It doesn't really matter who's fault you think it is. It doesn't really matter where you have been or where you are now. What really matters is the choice is yours where you go from here. Use this day to improve yourself and others around you. Improve your situation right now. It's never to late for a reality check. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way. Take a moment today to tell a friend or loved one how much you appreciate them in your life.

Step Back

A beautiful winter day in Ouray Colorado.

Take a moment today to step back. Take one step back and take a good look at what's around you. Take a little time to analyze your life and understand what direction you are headed. Understand where you are now and where you have been. Life is good but you can always make it better, if you choose to. With a solid effort the challenges will become valuable opportunities. By taking advantage of these opportunities your life can go wherever you want it to go. Your wildest dreams can and will be answered. Make good use of what you have and everything that's around you. Step back and improve your life today. Never take one moment for granted and be sure to shine your light bright. Don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way. Thank you for visiting my thought today and don't forget to share with others.

Success Overnight

An old picture but a favorite of my moms, geese on the run.

Success Overnight.

We all had success overnight. The negative things that happened in the past were washed away while we slept. Today is a brand new day and the possibilities are endless. The problems of the past have been turned into positives. The problems of today will be elevated to new and positive opportunities. The negatives that have held you back have made you stronger. There is nothing now that you can't handle. The new day has brought you courage and power. Strength to move forward and make a positive future for yourself and others around you. Today can be the best day yet if you choose to let it be. Choose to make it the best day yet and tomorrow will be even better. Don't forget that we have been forgiven for our sins. So why not be happy. Why not hold your head high today and smile. Smile with confidence that overnight you had success.Yes we all had Success Overnight. Live long, love alaways and smile along the way.

It's A Long Road Ahead

My drive everyday to Telluride Colorado up and over the San Juan Mountain Range.

It's a long road ahead so be sure to always think ahead. My parents often reminded me as I was growing up how important this is. This doesn't mean that we always practice it though. In order to put yourself ahead you must look ahead, plan ahead and live ahead. Choose to live your life so that you'll be thankful tomorrow and the day after. Bring light to your future by making the best of what you have today. Choose the long term value that lies in every moment to propel you into a better future. Use each day to prepare for a better future. A correct small action today will make a big difference down the road. Live for the moment now while creating value for the moments to come. Don't be afraid of making mistakes either. Mistakes are all part of the game. Your time is valuable so don't waste it. Consider your consequences right now so that you can determine what your consequences will be later. Think ahead, act ahead and you will be ahead. It's a long road don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way. I hope you started your day off by thinking ahead. If you didn't that's ok, it's never to late to start.

Stop Worrying

A brisk morning in Ridgway Colorado.

Remember that life is short, and time spent worrying is time wasted. Think of all the things you’ll get to do once you finally stop worrying. Realize how free you’re going to be. You want to run towards that, not walk. Enjoy your sprint and look forward to all kinds of new possibilities that lie beyond the checkered tape. Next be yourself. Nothing can bring you peace but yourself. While being yourself be sure to feel good about yourself. This sounds obvious, but far more people fail this test than pass it. Take pride in who you are, and don’t dwell on what you’re not. Others in your life, like parents, siblings, and friends, are surely already proud of you, so all you have to do is stop worrying and mimic their attitudes. Next don't hate. When we hate our enemies, we are giving them power over us, power over our sleep, our appetites, our blood pressure, our health, and our happiness. So stop worrying and start living today. Lastly don't forget to love always, forgive quickly and smile along the way.
Happy New Year to everyone and thanks for visiting my thought today.
